AS/NZS 3112:2017 Figure 2.8 Plug Pin Bending Test Machine
Product information:
Applicable Standards:
JIS C 8303 Figure 2 and Clause 7.10
AS/NZS 3112:2017 Figure 2.8 and Clause 2.13.7.2
Test Samples:Plugs with insulating sleeves.
Application:
Used to test the bending resistance of plug pins with insulating sleeves, in order to verify the mechanical strength of the plug structure.
Test Principle:
A motor-driven fixture applies force at a position 14 ± 0.5 mm from the plug mating face.
When a displacement of 7.5 ± 0.3 mm is reached, the fixture drives the pin back to the starting position.
The deviation speed shall not exceed 50 mm/s.
One cycle consists of pressing down to 7.5 mm and returning to the starting point.
Duration of one cycle: ≤ 60 s
Interval between cycles: ≤ 10 s
The test automatically stops after 20 cycles.
The sample shall be kept in air at 20 ± 2 °C for approximately 1 hour, then immediately fixed in the fixture as shown in Figure 2.
One terminal, at approximately 8.5 mm from the root of the plug, is alternately moved left and right at a rate of 10 times per minute, between positions 1–2 (15°) and 3–4 (15°), for 30 cycles, to determine whether any breakage of the terminal occurs.
The plug is subjected to bending at a position 14 ± 0.5 mm from the root of the plug, with a displacement of 7.5 ± 0.3 mm, held for 60 seconds, and the same action is repeated 20 times.
After the test, it is checked whether the terminal is broken.
The tester is equipped with specially designed fixtures that allow front–back and left–right adjustment of the plug for fine positioning.
The drive system uses a servo motor, ensuring that the test speed meets the requirements of maximum 50 mm/s and 10 cycles per minute.
