Testing Requirements and Challenges
According to IEC60884-1:2006 Clause 23.4 and IEC60745-1:2006 Clause 24.12, the flexing resistance of the power cord at the point where it enters the appliance must be verified under simulated actual use conditions. The test requires repeated flexing at specified loads, angles, and speeds until the preset number of cycles is reached or the cord conductors break, thereby assessing the long-term durability of the cord structure. Traditional equipment often struggles to meet high-precision testing requirements in terms of flexing axis alignment, sample fixation consistency, and automatic judgment.

Solution
The company selected our Power Cord Flexibility Test Machine. This equipment utilizes a servo motor drive and a large-size aluminum mounting disc structure, enabling precise alignment of the flexing axis with the cord entry point, thereby minimizing lateral displacement of the cord and load. The main technical configurations are as follows:

  • Test Stations: Single station, suitable for non-detachable power plugs, portable socket-outlets, and hand-held electric tools

  • Control System: PLC intelligent integrated control with a 7-inch HMI touchscreen for convenient parameter setting

  • Flexing Parameters: Adjustable angle from 0–360°, with preset options including ±30°, ±45°, ±60°, ±90°; adjustable speed from 0–60 cycles/min; preset cycles up to 999,999

  • Load Configuration: Standard weights of 10 N and 20 N, with customizable load options available

  • Judgment Method: Automatic test judgment based on current conduction status; the machine automatically stops when the sample breaks or the preset number of cycles is reached

  • Power Supply Adaptability: Adjustable voltage from 0–250 V with real-time current display, accommodating diverse sample testing requirements

Implementation Results
By introducing the test machine, the company achieved standardized and automated testing of power cord flexing performance, significantly improving test repeatability and result accuracy.
